The RFU Academy Physiotherapist role will be working with the Academy Junior Development Squad including elite RFU (EAP) registered players in the Academy and the Senior Squad with our partners Leeds Beckett University.

This is a Full-time role of 40 hours per week and you must be flexible in your commitment to this role as you will be expected to work evenings, weekends and match days with both Yorkshire Carnegie and Leeds Beckett University.

The role is based at our Kirkstall Training Ground, Leeds Rugby Academy, Clarence Fields, Bridge Road, Kirkstall, Leeds, LS5 3BW, but on occasions you may be required to work at West Park Leeds RUFC, in addition to the Leeds Beckett University Campus, Headingley.

The role requires excellent clinical knowledge and experience, a proven ability to work independently in managing an elite rugby caseload for both Senior and Youth players. The key requirements are;

• At least 2 years post-graduate experience, ideally within a full or part time sporting environment
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and supervision of junior staff
• Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner / lone working
• Able to demonstrate a strong sport focused career pathway
• HCPC and CSP registration.
• A PHICIS or IMMOFP pitch side qualifications would be desirable.
• BSc / MSc (pre-reg) Physiotherapy is essential

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Assess all Yorkshire Carnegie Junior Development Squad Player injuries and implement a structured treatment and rehabilitation plan in relation to the diagnosis and intervention of specific individual player’s needs.
• Oversee the collation and reporting of weekly and annual injury audits for the Junior Development Squad and Leeds Beckett squads.
• Oversee the medical provision to an elite 45 man squad at Leeds Beckett University, contributing to screening, assessment and annual education programs to players and staff. Including the supervision of a part time Assistant Physiotherapist.
• Appropriate record keeping using Rugby Squad of all physiotherapy interventions and contact time with both JDS and Leeds Beckett University squads.
• To provide lead match-day cover for the Junior Development Squad (Under 15s & 16s) and at times assist with cover for the Junior Academy (Under 18s).

• To provide match-day care for 1st Team Matches of Leeds Beckett University with the BUCS Super Rugby fixtures.
• To provide weekly clinics (plus admin time), (upto 3 for Yorkshire Carnegie Junior Development Squad and 3 for Leeds Beckett University) to allow for evidence based assessment and management of musculoskeletal injuries.
• Meet all of the RFU PHICIS Trauma Course qualifications, and attend courses annually as required.
• Provide pitchside cover for monthly England Rugby Developing Player Programme (ERDPP) sessions for one region within the county.
• Along with the Lead Academy Physiotherapist, contribute to the ongoing development of medical provision for players at Yorkshire Carnegie, through regular professional development reviews.
