Yorkshire Carnegie’s Under-18 team will host Leicester Tigers Under-18s this Saturday in the Premiership Rugby Under 18 Academy League at Keighley Rugby Club, kick off 3pm.

The young Carnegie side earned a 15-all draw last weekend against Northampton which saw them move to fifth in the table. Their opponents, Leicester, come into the game on the back of a win and sitting at the top of the table.

Steve Salvin, Academy Development Coach at Yorkshire Carnegie said: “I was really pleased with the performance last week. In the game previous to that against Wasps we didn’t play to the best of our abilities so I was pleased with the way the boys but that right against Northampton. We were much happier with the defensive performance, we looked more cohesive and organised in that area. Our attack, despite the cold conditions, went well and created some good opportunities so overall across the board it was a pleasing performance.

“We face Leicester at home this weekend and they will be strong, they are at the top of the table and comfortably beat Wasps last week. Like all the teams though they have had some mixed results this season, so we are expecting a competitive game. We have made some changes to the side to enable more of the players to get game time.”

This will be the Under-18s last home fixture of the season, so if you would like to see the next generation of Carnegie players in action head down to Keighley Rugby Club to support the team.
