Yorkshire Carnegie Academy welcomed Drew Povey to their Kirkstall training ground to deliver presentation on leadership and culture.

Drew is the Headteacher at Harrop Fold secondary school in Salford, which featured on the Channel 4 programme Educating Manchester.  He is also a leadership coach who works with individuals, teams and organisations to find creative solutions to develop positive climates and sustainable change for the people he works with.

The Academy players were invited to listen to the presentation in the afternoon, to learn about developing their leadership skills and Drew then presented to the Academy coaching staff about his own experiences as a teacher and useful tools on how to become an effective leader.

Ben Lazenby, Academy Manager at Yorkshire Carnegie, said: “We would like to thank Drew for his time.  The presentations were really helpful for both our players and our coaches and it was good to hear from someone outside of sport on their perspective of good leadership and how we can incorporate that into our own set up.

“We have already had a number of presentations this year to help the players in their development as players and also to ensure they acquire skills that will help them in future career aspirations and we hope to arrange more in the future on subjects such as starting your own business which we believe will be really beneficial for the Academy players.”
