Yorkshire Carnegie’s Under-18 team will play their fourth game of the season this weekend against Northampton at Barnsley Rugby Club on Saturday, 1pm kick off.

Carnegie are one place above Northampton in the Premiership Rugby Under 18 Academy League, having earned a win in their opening game against Newcastle.  The team have missed out in their last two games against Wasps and Worcester in closely fought contests.

Steve Salvin, Academy Development Coach at Yorkshire Carnegie said his team will have gained a lot from their opening three games.

“It will be good to be back in action against Northampton this weekend.  The game against Wasps was a little frustrating for us and probably our worst performance of the opening three games, so we are looking forward to getting back out there this weekend.

“Over the first three games we have been able to give most players in our squad some game time and we hope to be able to able to give more players the opportunity to play.  Although we didn’t get a winning result in our last game it was a good learning experience for our players and that is what the league is about.  Our players will have learned a lot from that game and will take a lot from it as they continue on their development.”
