As part of Women’s Sport week, the Yorkshire Carnegie Community department have announced the launch of their Women and Girls Affiliated Scheme.

The scheme will sit alongside the existing affiliated programmes and will provide further opportunities for players and volunteers to engage with Yorkshire Carnegie.

The initial 12 teams will receive a host of benefits including coaching takeovers, coach development opportunities, player visits, festivals and matchday opportunities.

Lisa McCann, Community Manager commented:  “We are delighted to be launching this new scheme, our two existing programmes for community clubs and schools have been a great success and we hope this scheme will be too.

“It is important the women and girls have their own identity within the clubs. One of the key aims at the start of this year was to create more opportunities for women and girls. We have sought to achieve this by hosting exclusive camps, matchdays and through our delivery programme.

“We have worked closely with the teams in developing this scheme, they are created for the benefit of their members, so it is important we build around their needs”
