The charge against Aseli Tikoirotuma of London Irish for dangerously tackling an opponent, contrary to law 10.4(e), was heard in London last night (22 May).

Tikoirotuma pleaded not guilty to the charge but was given a four week suspension. He is free to play again on 27 June 2017.

The incident occurred at the start the second half of the Greene King IPA Championship Final first leg between Yorkshire Carnegie and London Irish on 17 May 2017. He was subsequently cited for dangerous play.

The panel comprised of Gareth Rees QC (chair), Becky Essex and Chris Skaife.

Aviva Premiership referee JP O’Reilly opted not to ask the Television Match Official to look at the incident at the time. Yorkshire Carnegie led 15-13 at that stage in the game.
