Carnegie scrum half Alex Davies, who joined the club ahead of the new season from Ealing Trailfinders, said he is hoping his new team can enjoy the same promotion success he experienced with his former club London Welsh.

The 30-year-old said he is also looking forward to the start of the season which kicks off with a visit to his old club.  “I am looking forward to playing Ealing in the first game of the season and we have them in the British and Irish Cup too.  It was quite funny when the fixtures came out and it was Ealing away, so it will be good to go down there and hopefully get a five-point win.

“I won promotion with London Welsh and it would be unbelievable to do that again with this team.  We have only been together just over six weeks and it’s a close group already.  To win the Championship the first time was unbelievable and to do it a second time was incredible so if I can do it a third time it will be really special.

“It’s been good to have some familiar faces in the squad, with my old team mates Seb Stegmann, Ollie Steadman and Dean Schofield here.  It’s always daunting moving to a new club, but when you have friends already here it makes that little bit easier.”
