Yorkshire Carnegie will kick off their pre-season campaign this Saturday when they take on Aviva Premiership side Bath at Ilkley, kick off 6pm, and the club have confirmed two more new recruits for next season.
Fly half Warren Seals has joined Yorkshire Carnegie from Darlington Mowden Park after impressing last season with the National Division One side. Originally from South Africa he joined Darlington Mowden Park in November 2015. A former University of Cape Town player he has signed for one year deal with the club.
Second Dan Sanderson has joined Yorkshire Carnegie on a two year contract from Aviva Premiership side Worcester Warriors. The Leicester-born forward is returning to Yorkshire having previously played two seasons with Rotherham Titans prior to joining Worcester in the summer of 2014.
The 6ft 8in lock began his career at Rolls Royce before spells with Derby, Birmingham and Solihull Bees and Northampton Saints. Sanderson moved to Moseley in 2011 before joining Rotherham a year later and went on to make 50 appearances during his time at Clifton Lane. The forward played a significant role in Warriors’ 2014-15 British & Irish Cup triumph as well as Worcester Cavaliers' run to the Aviva A League final.
Commenting on the signings Head Coach Bryan Redpath said, “Both lads have settled in really well at the club having been here for a number of weeks. Dan is an experienced player having played in both the Championship and Premiership and he will add to our existing group for the second row. Warren is an ambitious player who wants to show what he can do and he will give us options at fly half alongside Joe Ford and Alex Davies, who can play at nine or ten. The lads are looking forward to the challenge of taking on Bath on Saturday and it will be a good test of where we are in our preparations for the new season.”
