At Yorkshire Carnegie’s final home game of the regular season against Nottingham over 160 children took part in match day activity as part of an unforgettable day at Headingley Carnegie.

Junior teams from club across Yorkshire took part in pre match activities that were organised by community manager Adam Blades.

Pre match the Under-7s and Under-8s from Dinnington were player escorts as the two Championship teams ran onto the field in front of the Sky cameras.  The Under-6s from Wetherby Micros and the Under-8s from Ripon also formed a guard of honour for the teams.

At half time 16 teams Ripon Rugby, Dinnington, North Ribblesdale, Wensleydale and Wetherby took part in the popular half time games.  There was also a chance for some of the players to have a tour of the changing rooms and at the end of the game all the teams came together for a traditional end of season picture with the Carnegie players.

Speaking about the support from the community game during the 2015-16 season Blades said: “It was great to see so many teams coming along to support the Carnegie team in their important game against Nottingham.  The match day experience at Headingley Carnegie has been massively enhanced by the contribution of community teams coming to participate in the pre match and half time activity.  We have had lots of positive feedback from clubs after their visit and we have had many take up the free junior ticket membership this season.  Their support is hugely appreciated by all at the club and we hope to see many of them come to cheer on the team in their play-off game against Doncaster.”

Below is some feedback from clubs who have visited Headingley Carnegie this season.

We just wanted to pass on our sincere thanks for taking the time to organise the development training at Kirkstall and Yorkshire Carnegie day last Sunday 20th Sept 2015. The lads thoroughly enjoyed the game and then the tour around the Carnegie changing room with great support from John Bentley. A great surprise for the lads to meet Kevin Sinfield and please pass on our thanks to Brian Redpath who gave up 10 mins to talk to the lads before a big match.

Really appreciate everything you did for us from organising the game, giving us some useful feedback to work on and everything you sorted for the changing room tour.
The lads (and me I have to say!!) loved it. Bentos was on top form and full credit to Bryan Redpath for taking the time out just minutes before kick off and Kevin Sinfield for having a photo with them.
All credit goes to Adam Blades and I have to say how much the lads and parents respect him and appreciate what he does for us.

Thank you for organising a great day of rugby for the Roundhegians Minis. The Yorkshire Carnegie players that came down to training in the morning really got stuck in and helped the boys make progress. Also, the boys loved getting onto the Headingley pitch, they were made to feel very welcome.
