Matt Smith gave credit to the 41 players who have represented Yorkshire Carnegie in the team’s British and Irish Cup campaign this season.

Smith said the team were hurting following the loss against London Welsh but said they would learn from it and come back stronger.  Speaking after the game he said: "Obviously losing is not nice, but I don't think we turned up today.  Credit to London Welsh, they turned up and they did a job, their set piece stopped ours and once they did that we were fighting round the park trying to get what we could. At half time we said, we haven't had much ball and we have't got the forwards into the game and at the start of the second half we got the try and the belief was there but there were times in the second half it got away from us and they built  a score and it was tough to come back from.

"41 players played in this competition for us so it was a real squad effort during this competition and from a club point of view that is massive for us.  What we have got to do from today is learn and come back stronger."
