Last Monday and Tuesday saw community manager Adam Blades make the journey to Scarborough Rugby Club to help promote the upcoming on the road game to be held at their ground on Sunday 13th December against London Scottish.
Throughout the two day visit, Adam, alongside Scarborough youth development officer Tom Chadwick coached within numerous schools based around the club running various sessions covering the basics of rugby within the schools.
Alongside the school visits, Adam also led coaching sessions the club with the newly formed Under-13s and Under-15s girls side followed by the senior women’s team on Monday evening. Following this on Tuesday evening first team players Dean Schofield, Chris Jones and Jonah Holmes visited the club and coached the Under-13s, 14s, 15s, 16s and 17s sides from the club. Following this the Scarborough first team took part in a session from Chris Jones and Dean Schofield.
Commenting on the two days Adam said: “It is the second year running that Scarborough have hosted a B&I cup game for us and following last year’s success they are really looking forward to hosting another game for us in December. The two days I have spent over there, delivering sessions within the local schools and the club itself will hopefully enthuse people to come to the game to see Yorkshire Carnegie in action against London Scottish.
“The club’s junior section is also going from strength to strength with some great numbers present when we took the coaching on Tuesday evening. It was also great to see the girls teams at Under-13 and Under-15 level going well with their playing numbers increasing weekly. The relationship with Scarborough Rugby Club will hopefully see the on the road game be a success again and create a solid platform for the Yorkshire Carnegie first team when they take to the field against London Scottish.”
