Following an internal disciplinary hearing Yorkshire Carnegie have banned hooker Joe Graham for four weeks with immediate effect including Friday night’s Greene King IPA Championship clash with London Welsh at Headingley Carnegie, when he was due to be the forward reserve.

Graham pleaded guilty to the charge of conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Union and/or the Game, contrary to RFU Rule 5.12 and gave an unreserved apology for the incident which took place in last week’s British & Irish Cup game against Munster A at Kinsale. In the 34th minute of the match, Graham made contact with the referee at the tail of a lineout as the ball broke clear.

Graham will appear before a RFU disciplinary hearing on Monday night to answer the charge and the hooker has already written to English referee Fergus Kirby to apologise for his actions.
