Yorkshire Carnegie Head Coach Bryan Redpath praised the club’s backroom team for their swift action to ensure that Sunday’s opening British & Irish Cup clash with the Ospreys Premiership Select side was played.

Heavy rainfall over the weekend led to Huddersfield YMCA declaring their pitch was unplayable on Sunday leaving a potentially troublesome prospect of re-arranging the game with the team from South Wales. However, plans were quickly put in place on Sunday morning to switch the game to Headingley Carnegie.

Speaking after the game Head Coach Redpath said, "I think our backroom team did us proud today. Ryan Golding and his team on the ground staff not only did everything possible to get the game on at Huddersfield YMCA but they also prepared the pitch at Headingley Carnegie just in case and that saved us in the end. Sue Ward and everyone at the stadium made sure that the game could go ahead from a safety point of view and thankfully it all paid off with a win."
