This week, staff from Yorkshire Carnegie’s marketing team have been visiting Freshers Fairs at the three Universities in Leeds to promote the club to new students arriving in the city.
Over a 100 season tickets were sold to students from Leeds Beckett University, Leeds Trinity and the University of Leeds ahead of today’s game at Headingley Carnegie.
Commenting on the response, Marketing Executive Grace Dunlop said: "We had a stall at three Freshers Fairs last week and there was lots of interest shown for the club which was really pleasing. It is a great opportunity to promote our club to new students who have come to Leeds from all over the country and the response to our ticket promotion was fantastic and we hope to welcome many of them to Headingley Carnegie this season."
Headingley Carnegie Stadium will host the biggest night of the student year when the annual Varsity game between the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University Men’s Rugby Union first teams takes place on Wednesday 7th October.
This annual Varsity Day, which sees Leeds Beckett University and the University of Leeds compete in over 50 sporting events, culminates in a rugby union game at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, and last year over 12,000 supporters attended the showpiece event. Numbers are expected to be even greater this year as Leeds Beckett look to maintain their winning record in the event.
Tickets for the match only are priced at £10 (plus £1 booking fee per ticket) and are available to buy from the Leeds Rugby Store at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, over the phone on 0871 423 1315 and online at www.yorkshirecarnegie.com
