Jersey arrive at Headingley Carnegie on Sunday for the opening game of the new Greene King IPA Championship season hoping to build on their best ever finish last year.

The Islanders finished seventh last season with eight wins kicking them on from back to back eleventh placed finishes in their first two seasons in the Championship.  The highlight of last season was perhaps their victory over eventual winners Worcester when they became on the only team other than Bristol to beat the star studded Warriors last season.
Preparations for the new season have gone well for Jersey. Last weekend, they finished the last of their pre-season trilogy with a good win against a stubborn and determined Blackheath side.
Head Coach Harvey Biljon has recruited sixteen new recruits to his squad for this season and they will be hoping to make strong start to the new campaign.
Jersey had kicked off their pre-season campaign when they defeated Plymouth Albion 43-15 at St Peters with seven tries against the newly relegated South West outfit.
That win was followed by a 40-27 defeat to the Scarlets. Jersey produced a competitive performance in their first-ever match against Pro 12 opposition, scoring five of the 11 tries on an entertaining summer afternoon's rugby.
Ultimately the all-round class of the visitors from West Wales was enough to win the pre-season challenge match although the Islanders could have narrowed the margin through greater place-kicking accuracy.
