Centre James Fitzpatrick says he is looking forward to putting an injury-ravaged first season at the club behind him this season as he gets stuck into pre-season training.

The former Newcastle Falcon joined Yorkshire Carnegie last summer but a major operation after just two months of the season ruled him out until the last few weeks of the last campaign. However, he says he is now in great shape and looking forward to the future.

He commented, "It was good to get those few games under my belt at the end of last year, it has given me plenty of confidence to go into pre-season with. The squad is in a great place at the moment and it has been good to welcome some new faces in this week. We have got plenty of competition right across the team and especially in the centres so it is important that I have a good off season. I was in the gym every day last year trying to get my ankle right but it is so nice to be out there running on the field with the boys. The injury has been absolutely fine and it is giving me no problems now. I was gutted there was only six games left at the end as I just wanted it to carry on but that has given me something to aim for next season already."
