New Yorkshire Carnegie signing Dean Schofield admits he is delighted to be back home in the north of England after kicking off his pre-season campaign with Yorkshire Carnegie.

Schofield was joined by fellow new recruits Seb Stegmann, Tom Casson and Andy Saull at the start of pre-season training on Monday and he told us he was delighted to get started with his new club.

"It was great this morning to wake up with my family and then head off for training after five years away from home in France and then with Worcester and London Welsh. I am in a great place at the moment and I am excited about this season. It has been a tough two years for me, I've been relegation twice in two years with Worcester and Welsh and that is something that is very hard for me to say. I want to be part of something special here at Yorkshire Carnegie this season.

"I know a lot of the lads already from previous clubs, guys like Chris Jones, Rob O'Donnell and of course Seb from Welsh last year. The other lads are great here and immediately it has felt like home to be here," added Schofield.
