Yorkshire Carnegie star Ryan Burrows says he believes the squad have a fantastic opportunity this season to put the disappointment of last year behind them with a big off season together.

Burrows returned to pre-season training last week along with the majority of the squad as Bryan Redpath looks to get his side into shape for the new Greene King IPA Championship. The club have set a goal of finishing in the top two this season at the end of the regular season to give them the best chance of gaining promotion and Burrows believes that the onus is on the players to perform this season.

He told us, "Everyone has come back into pre-season in great shape which is the perfect start to a big 12 weeks for us. Each player was given a target for how they should report back for pre-season and everyone has hit those targets which sends out a great message as a group. We were all disappointed with how last season finished but we need to use that now to fire us on this year to challenge the likes of London Welsh, Bristol, Rotherham and London Scottish for those top spots."
