Yorkshire Carnegie Head Coach Bryan Redpath said his players are keen to end the season with two good performances, starting with this weekend’s game against London Scottish.

Redpath said last week’s defeat against Worcester had been a learning curve for himself and the team: “We learned a lot from the defeat at Worcester last week, such as the detail around our exit plays and how we protect our own try line.  We gave away 19 points when we started with possession and that tells me that in the higher intense games we have got to be careful and more clinical and our focus has to be stronger, which is something we have trained on this week.  Overall I was delighted with the effort from our players against the Warriors, especially around the pack at scrum time and the line out drives and defensive mauls were very good as was their energy and physicality, so it’s just making them realise that if they do the little things really well at the right times they can win more games than you lose.”

Now the team have just two games to play this season and Redpath insists this does not mean the players won’t be out to impress: “The chance to make the play offs is now beyond our reach but the players and staff are determined to end the season with two good performances.  The players have got to perform for themselves too so these two homes games are great for us.  The way we have trained over the last month has been great, they have never dropped in intensity.  I think going forward if players are dropping of that level of intensity they are probably not the players that need to be in the Premiership and I have highlighted that fact.  We are in a performance game and every week players must perform or someone else will come in, that is just the nature of it.”
