Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby is looking to appoint an Academy Programme Manager to manage the player and coach development programme within the Yorkshire Region.

Reporting to the Academy Director you will be responsible of the design, implementation and management of all talent identification and development processes within Yorkshire and work in partnership with the Yorkshire RFU. You will also be responsible for the future development of the ERDPP initiative to ensure that all Yorkshire-based players are provided an accessible and outstanding talent ID and development programme.
 
You will assist the Academy Director with management of all academy systems and developments aligned to the vision and strategic plans of Yorkshire Carnegie Academy. You will ensure that established outcomes are being supported and achieved within the central academy system and are feeding effectively into the Yorkshire Carnegie senior academy and first team squad.
 
You will have strong leadership and communications skills and experience of managing staff and volunteers in a sports setting. Coach education and development experience is desirable, as is a RFU Level 3 or equivalent coaching qualification. Experience of talent ID and coaching of youth level elite rugby players is essential.
 
This is a full time role, working 40 hours a week, however you must be flexible in your commitment to this role, as evening and weekend work will be required. The salary for the role will be dependent on your skills, experience and qualifications.
 
The role is based at Kirkstall Training Ground, Clarence Fields, Bridge Road, Kirkstall, LS5 3BW, but will include travel around the Yorkshire region.

Roles and Responsibilities
 

  • Lead the design, implementation and management of all talent identification and development processes employed by Yorkshire Carnegie Academy, in partnership with Yorkshire RFU
  • Lead the future development of the ERDPP initiative to ensure that all Yorkshire-based players are provided an accessible and outstanding quality T’ID and development programme
  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with Yorkshire RFU and regionally-based support staff to achieve well-integrated systems and philosophies within player development programmes
  • Ensure that established outcomes are being supported and achieved within the central academy system, and are feeding effectively into the Yorkshire Carnegie Senior Academy and First Team Squad
  • Assist the Academy Director with the management of all academy systems and developments aligned to the vision and strategic plans of Yorkshire Carnegie Academy
  • Manage the development and delivery/coaching of a player development programme for U15 and U16 players in the Yorkshire Carnegie Academy Junior Development Squad. Including responsibilities for any team/competition events at these age-groups
  • Contribute to the development of age-appropriate and progressive skill curriculum for the Academy from U13 upwards that continues to evolve and that can be shared and used across the ERDPP and County programmes
  • Manage a group of professional coaches and volunteers to support the delivery of a wide-reaching and professionally delivered regional ERDPP programme
  • Manage the administration tasks and communication process aligned to the regional (satellite) ERDPP programme to key stakeholders
  • Work effectively within established county, school and club systems from U13 upwards, including the responsibility to attend games to identify players, and to assist with county coaching programmes as appropriate
  • Help to plan, deliver and promote a series of coach development events to support coaches within the ERDPP and for School, Club, and CB coaches within the region
  • To oversee the design and dissemination of a range of coach development initiatives, and to facilitate coach-engagement opportunities within both the academy, and player development community
  • Provide mentor support and personalised CPD advice, including the implementation of coach development plans for coaches working within the ERDPP programmes (and other coaches within schools and clubs as appropriate)
  • Establish and maintain relationships within schools and clubs across the region; achieving effective links to academy programmes and managing player development objectives

Skills/Qualifications

  • Coach-education and development experience (desirable)
  • Coaching Qualifications (RFU Level 3 or Equivalent – desirable)
  • Experience of managing staff and volunteer support within a sports setting
  • Experience of talent identification and coaching ‘youth-level-elite’ rugby players
  • Expertise in a specific area of the game (tech, tact, psycho/social)
  • Very strong communicator in both verbal and written forms
  • Very well organised with strong administrative skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
