Bristol second row Joe Joyce has joined Yorkshire Carnegie on loan for the remainder of the season to bolster Tommy McGee’s options in the forwards.

With Richard Beck, Mike Myerscough, Liam Edwards and Nathan Hannay all presently side lined and Dan Preston-Routledge having left last Fridays loss at Bristol through injury, the signing of Joyce is a timely boost to the squad.

The Bristol Academy graduate has made six appearances for Bristol Rugby during the season and was a late replacement at Ashton Gate on Friday.

“Joe is a great professional and has shown plenty of progress in the B&I Cup and A League during the season so far,” Academy Manager Mike Hall told bristolrugby.co.uk.

“Yorkshire have a very competitive squad and it’ll be good for Joe to get some Championship rugby under his belt.

"As with our other dual-registered players, Joe can be recalled should he be required by Bristol Rugby during the rest of the campaign."

Yorkshire Carnegie Director of Rugby Chris Gibson added, "We are looking forward to having Joe on board for the remainder of the season. We have heard some very good reports on him from the Bristol management and I would like to thank Andy Robinson for his help. Joe knows Ollie Hayes well from their time together at Bristol and I am sure it will not take him long to settle in."
