Yorkshire Carnegie coach Tommy McGee expressed his pride in his team despite their 29-28 loss to high flying Bristol at Ashton Gate.

Carnegie led 28-10 with ten minutes to go against the unbeaten favourites for promotion but were hit by a three try volley late on that snatched defeat from victory.

Speaking after the game McGee said, "I really feel for our blokes. They have given that game their all and we have come down here and given Bristol a really tough test. It was heartening to hear from their coaching team today when they said they thought the better team lost. Bristol are a quality outfit who are able to call upon internationals off their bench when the going gets tough, clearly in terms of depth of quality they are above nearly all the teams in our division. However, I was immensely proud of our players and what they did today. We played some fantastic rugby and scored four tremendous tries. The challenge now is to build on this performance, especially in the league going forward and that is what all the talk was about after the game."
