Leeds Carnegie Head Coach Neil Back says his team are firmly focused on the task ahead of them as they travel to London Irish on Sunday.

News broke on Tuesday that young fly half Joe Ford would be leaving the club to join Northampton next season however Back insists that will not be a distraction for the side. “We have known for a couple of weeks of Joe’s decision so that will not effect the team or his preparations. Unfortunately at this stage we are not in the same position as Northampton but that is where we aim to be. They have been able to cherry pick young talent with the attraction of playing in the Heineken Cup however we were keen to keep Joe unfortunately he turned down the opportunity to stay at the club.”

Looking ahead to the Irish game Back said, “We were disappointed with the second half at Quins but that was the worst half of rugby we have had in seven games so we have put that into perspective and we will not play like that again.”
